Astronomically an eclipse is the interposition of a dark celestial body between the luminous one and the eye or the passing of the luminous body into the shadow of another body. An eclipse is an astronomical event that occurs when an astronomical object is temporarily obscured, either by passing into the shadow of another body or by having another body pass between it and the viewer. This alignment of three celestial objects is known as a syzygy. In astronomy, a syzygy is a (usually) straight-line configuration of three or more celestial bodies in a gravitational system.
A lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes directly behind Earth and into its shadow. This can occur only when the Sun, Earth, and the Moon are aligned (in syzygy) exactly or very closely so, with the planet in between. Hence, a lunar eclipse can occur only on the night of a full moon. The type and length of an eclipse depend on the Moon’s proximity to either node of its orbit.
Lunar eclipses can be visible from everywhere on the night side of the Earth, if the sky is clear. From some places, the entire eclipse will be visible, while in other areas the Moon will rise or set during the eclipse.

The time after the eclipses help us to understand and discover facts which were hidden due to the effect of the Rahu/Ketu conjunction with the luminaries. The facts relate to the house the eclipse falls in.
As per the classics, if the eclipse happens in a Nakshatra, that Nakshatra should be avoided for doing an good work for 6 months.
Eclipse may operate unfavourable in a horoscope when they fall in conjunction with or opposition to any important points such as Sun, Moon, Malefic planets, Rahu and Ketu and other sensitive points of the natal horoscope. On the other hand, it falls in trines to the Sun, Moon and sensitive points when in conjunction with benefit planets like Jupiter, Venus or Neptune the action is favourable. The permissible orbit is 5°.
Transit over eclipse position affecting the significance will have the maximum effect according to the planets concerned. Planets that have become stationary while in the act of transit over the Natal place are of significance and of greater effect than those that are direct as per the area of life as indicated by the planet.

Venus also indicates sisters and Mars indicate brothers. Jupiter indicates uncles and Mercury indicates aunts while the Sun denotes the father and the Moon denotes the mother.

Lunar eclipses can be visible from everywhere on the night side of the Earth, if the sky is clear. From some places, the entire eclipse will be visible, while in other areas the Moon will rise or set during the eclipse.
Europe, Asia, Africa, America, North America, South America, Pacific, Atlantic, Indian Ocean, Artic Ocean are the areas where this eclipse can be seen.

The total duration of the eclipse is 5 hours, 12 minutes.
The total duration of the partial phases is 2 hours, 15 minutes.
The duration of the full eclipse is 1 hour, 2 minutes.
